Clubs learned late last week of increases in levies of up to 50 percent for some membership categories, and even previously exempt junior golfers and life members will be levied $12.50 and $25 respectively. The increased dues will cost larger clubs the best part of $10,000 dollars - or more. Callaway reported net sales of $193.8 million, down from $220.6 million in the year-ago period. Net loss was $11.9 million, or 18 cents a share, up from a loss of $4.8 million, or 7 cents a share, in the prior-year period. In the first nine months of the fiscal year, the company reported net sales of $838 million, up from $843.6 million in the year-ago period. Net income in the period was $33.5 million, or 49 cents a share, up from $31.9 million, or 46 cents a share, in the first nine months of fiscal 2005.
